Sailor LE Double Dragon Maki-e Fountain Pen w/ Nagahara King Eagle Nib #06/28. The Sailor Limited Edition Double Dragon depicts two dragons soaring in the sky using the traditional Japanese art of Maki-e, or more specifically in this case, Kaga Maki-e. The Dragon is one of four Japanese spiritual creatures called the "Four Guardians"; the other three being the Tortoise, the Unicorn (Kirin) and the Phoenix.
The dragon is worshiped as the Guardian of Water who controls the clouds and rain, freely moving across the sky, water and land. A dragon ascending into the sky is known as a Black Dragon and a symbol for good luck.
It's companion: a dragon descending towards the ground from the sky is known as a Blue Dragon. This magnificent pen comes fitted with a unique Nagahara "King Eagle" nib.
This nib is hand crafted by Sailor's nib master Nobuyoshi Nagahara and provides broad and strong strokes, as if to trace the Dragon's soaring route into the sky. The Sailor "Double Dragon" Limited Edition is therefore a unity of handcrafted Maki-e art by master artist Mr. Ohsita, the legendary nib skills of Mr. Nobuyoshi Nagahara and Sailor's 95 year history of quailty fountain pen making. One can almost hear the Dragon's tail swish when writing with this pen. This is #06/28 and it is entirely complete with all original boxes and documents The Pen is Factory Sealed.
